Play Offs

I have received the information today regarding the playoffs. The top four are Oxford, Waterloo, Tavistock & Stratford. So we play Oxford a 2 out of 3 series. We have until August 16 to play our games. When we win this series we will play the other winner for the league Championship.

As soon as I know the first game I'll post it here.

Fundraising

Thank you to everyone for all your hard work on the two fundraisers, (chicken & Raffle tickets). We will have a total for everyone next week after the BBQ this weekend. As I mentioned the top seller would get a prize, so drum roll, the top seller was .......the Woodends ($1990)!! So our prize is two weeks in Hawaii!!

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Please remember to return all sold and unsold raffle tickets to Jan at tomorrow nights game. We need all ticket returned before the tourney on Friday. If you can't make Wednesday's game please pass your tickets to some one who can be there. Also, please bring your door prizes to Wed's game so we can get them ready for raffle draw on Sat - give to Jan.

Also bring your Elmira chicken orders with payments as well. We need to get the order in to the supplier so that deliver can be done before we go to Napanee. Does anyone have access to a huge freezer? In case we can't get it out really fast it would be nice to keep it frozen somewhere. I'm expecting about 150 boxes.

Home Run King

Congratulations to Mark Verkley for winning the home run contest tonight with a 318' blast. Chad Fink and Mark split pitching duties and led their team to victory in tonights allstar game. It was a well played game, final score 5 -2.

Congratulations to Our Allstars

Thanks for all your votes guys. Our two players will be Mark & Ben. Mark will also compete in the Homerun contest. So I need you two to be at the park by 7:15.

It would nice if some of the rest of you come to help out with the homerun contest (pitchers, shaging fly, chasing balls) and than support your team-mates in the big game. It will be fun night.

Elmira Poultry Fundrasier

A reminder to everyone that the order forms are due back on July 26 with payment. These products are very well received by friends and family and there is no trouble selling it. In fact I expect to sell over a $1000 worth alone. There will be a prize for who ever sells the most. (Not sure what but I'll think of something).

Also keep selling those booze tickets. This again is an easy fundraiser that is very well received by people. We have one parent closing in on selling 9 books. We have until the end of the month to sell these as the draw is August 2.

We have a huge hotel bill (over $10,000), it would be nice to have the funds to pay it.

We are looking for team sponsors to give cash donations to help with our expenses, please make a list of business and friends that might be interested in making a donation. Bring list with you on Sunday and we will create letter and send out or you can approach business/friends on your own, just give us the name so they don't get approached more than once.

Napanee and Quebec rooms

I was able to reserve a few rooms at the Fox Motor Inn for Aug 14 & 15 (rooms have 2 double beds NOT QUEENS) Reserving is first come, first serve - when you call 613-354-3855 mentioned rooms reserved under Jan Woodend/Stratford Memorials. If you book a room at Fox Motor Inn please cancel your room at Hampton Inn so you will not be charged!

We have booked a block of rooms in Levis, Quebec for the Eastern Canadians @ the Comfort Inn. Rates are $120/night - this was really our only choice as everything else was totally booked - I have ASA (sports accomodations) working on a better price for us. I will bring phone # and more info Sunday to the game so you can call and give full information & credit card #, I have rooms reserved by last names.

Uniforms - Eastern Canadians

There has been some discussion from the boys about new uniforms to wear to Eastern Canadians, if we want to do this it would be up to us to pay for them from our fundraising efforts, new jerseys will cost about $65-$75 each but they would be able to keep them. In light of the fact that this is going to be an expensive trip anyway, I would like to hear from the parents as to whether we spend fundraising money for the jerseys or use fundraising money to offset our direct cost like hotel, travel, etc.

Practice on Monday July 13th

Reminder practice Monday night @ 8:30 pm, I will be at park starting at 6:30 pm for you to get the keys but you will need someone to feed the balls in machine, if you want to come early and go through the batting cage.

Game Thursday night is in Norwich against Oxford Pirates - be at park for 7:45 pm.

Double Header

See everyone at 5 for our double header. Second game will start about 20 - 30 minutes after the first is complete.

Fundraising

1. If you have sold all your booze tickets, please bring back stubs & money.
2. I have the Elmira chicken order forms - will give out on Sunday @ game.
3. We will be looking after the booth/BBQ on August long weekend for the North Waterloo final league tourney - NEED VOLUNTEERS (players/parents/siblings - we will give letters for community hours) for Friday night, Saturday, Sunday. I will make up a sign up sheet for times - will have sometime next week. Also, that weekend we will be selling 50/50 tickets, we will have a raffle table - if you can get door prizes for this draw that would be great. All door prizes can be given to Tom/Leslie Heinbuch.

Double Header Sunday

Just a reminder that we are playing Monkton a double header on Sunday. First game is at 6:00PM. Be at the park for 5 to use the batting cage.

Hotel rooms for Napanee

We have rooms booked at Hampton Inn in Napanee for the Provincials (Aug 14/15); I am looking into getting rooms at the Fox Motor Inn, closer to ball park, less money; our bantams have stayed there for the past few years and it is nice. I will keep everyone posted, I will know on Sunday if we get them, I will call the ones that have rooms booked at the Hampton Inn and you can cancel them and rebook at the Fox Motor Inn. Due to our Quebec trip I'm trying to save a few dollars here and there on accomodations!

Sebringville Game

Our scheduled game in Sebringville for Sat July 11th has been cancelled, we are now playing July 20th in Sebringville @ 6:45 pm.

REVISED SCHEDULE

I have made the following changes to our schedule (getting in cancelled/rained out games):

JULY 12 - at Stratford against Elma - time 6 pm (double header)
JULY 16 - at Norwich against Oxford Pirates - time 8:30 pm
JULY 20 - at Sebringville - time 6:45 pm
JULY 26 - at Stratford against Waterloo - time 7 pm

We still have 2 more games to get in yet - I will keep you posted on dates and times.

Fundraising BBQ Saturday

Thanks to those that have volunteered to be at the BBQ on Saturday. We still need more help especially in the early shift (9 - 11) (you guys don't like to get out of bed or what?) and again later in the day (3 - 6). It's not a lot of work.

We have also been asked to run the BBQ on the final tournament weekend at Packham. That will be a couple days and we can pocket some good funds to help offset our costs of the Quebec trip. We will also not be playing that week so its a good to time to raise more money.
